Fourth Annual Casino Night Event Raises $110K for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

Cushman & Wakefield Partnered with JDRF Tampa Bay to Host the Fundraiser

TAMPA, FL, April 23, 2018 – For the fourth consecutive year, the Tampa office of Cushman & Wakefield partnered with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to host the All-In for Type None Casino Night. The event, held in February, raised $109,828 for Type 1 Diabetes research.

More than 300 guests, many of whom are involved in the Tampa Bay commercial real estate community, attended the fundraiser at TPepin’s Hospitality Centre. Attendees enjoyed an evening of dancing, drinks, food, gaming, live music and a silent auction, all in support of JDRF. This was a record year for the annual event, which has raised nearly $400,000 in donations since it began in 2015.

JDRF is a global organization with a strategic research plan to fight type 1 diabetes, a life-threatening autoimmune disease. The disease strikes both children and adults currently has no cure.

Cushman & Wakefield’s Tim Rivers, Senior Managing Director of Asset Services in Florida, led the firm’s involvement in the event, as he has since its beginning. Rivers is a past President of the Board of Directors for the JDRF Tampa Bay chapter. His son, Jake, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2002, and in the intervening years, the Rivers family has helped raised close to $1 million to help fight the disease.

“JDRF Tampa Bay does incredibly important work, and each year we help host this event, everyone who attends is supporting the foundation in coming that much closer to ending type 1 diabetes,” said Rivers. “We continue to be humbled by the support of the Tampa Bay community and we thank all who have contributed to the fight against this terrible disease.”

Since Rivers joined Cushman & Wakefield in 2013, the firm has been a regular on the JDRF fundraising front, consistently raising money for the organization. In addition to attending the Casino Night event, employees from the firm’s Tampa office participated in the JDRF One Walk on April 14, which raised nearly $650,000 overall for the cause.
